In 2014, expansion and canalization works began on Calle 79 between Carrera 53 and Carrera 60 in the city of Barranquilla. A project in which the residents of Barranquilla enjoyed a renovated road in a section of 800 linear meters, with three lanes of 3.5 meters wide that will strengthen the vehicular flow and contribute to the life quality of its citizens. The expansion of Calle 79 is replacing the existing pavement with a new structure that will improve the subgrade with a thickness of 20 cm to give uniform support to the pavement. An important aspect of the construction project on Calle 79, being a canal road, is the hydraulic solution that will improve road connectivity in this sector and allow safe mobility. The solution to the stream on Calle 79 will be achieved by channeling groundwater through a concrete box culvert and relocating public service networks.
