In 2014, work began on the expansion and canalization of Calle 79 between carreras 53 and 60 in the city of Barranquilla. A project that will allow the people of Barranquilla to enjoy a renovated road in a section of 800 linear meters, with three lanes 3.5 meters wide that will strengthen the flow of vehicles and contribute to the life quality of its citizens.
The expansion of Calle 79 is replacing the existing pavement with a new structure that will have subgrade improvement with a thickness of 20 cm to give uniform support to the pavement. An important aspect of the works carried out on Calle 79, due to its condition as a road-channel, is the hydraulic solution that will improve road connectivity in this sector, enabling safe mobility.
This solution will be implemented by piping the water subway through a specific box coulvert and relocating the public service networks.
